If you’re from Virginia, why are you asking about fin aid for international?

If you apply ED I, you'll probably will get in. If you do RD, it’s more of a toss up. That SAT range is a borderline area. The class of 2009's average SAT score was 1391. If you score in lower end of your range, you may be aiming too high for the like of Smith and Colgate.

By the way, based on what I heard from a junior at my school you won't be able to apply to the main campus of Penn State. She said that starting this fall, freshman applicants will have to go to a branch campus first.

Definitely send in a violin recording of yourself if you're interested in playing violin at Colgate. They really like good musicians, and have built one of the best chamber music programs at a small non-music school.

Colgate13, although I am from VA, I have a citizenship from other country. So that makes me an international student even though I lived here for 10yrs. Does Colgate really look into the SAT scores?

RaboKarabekian, thanks for the info. I was thinking of sending a record too but now I know I will definitely send it in. (btw, it's viola not violin hehe...)

Kimmibee,
You miss read my message. I also known a lot of kids who are going to State College this fall. I got in there myself. What I was saying is that this year's juniors will not be able to go there next year.

If you're good at viola, and say you will do something with the music program (not necessarily major, but do chamber music, orch, etc), the department will pull hard for you. Definitely send in a tape. Usually they have to convert violinists to play viola.
