Colgate Community?

I was just wondering if it were hard to make friends at Colgate. It seems like there is little to no diversity.

I have never met a group of people more social or who like to have fun more than the Colgate student body. I have made a ton of friends and love being able to say hello to 6 or 7 people on my way to class, or knowing 95% of the faces when I go down to the bars at night. If you can't make friends at Colgate, the problem most likely rests within you, rather with than the student body.

In terms of diversity, NYU this certainly is not but I don't subscribe to your idea that diversity, or its lack there of, makes it more or less easy to find friends. Its the student body's attitude that is crucial, not what they do or do not look like.

I also agree that diversity is not a prerequisite to socialization.

My daughter graduated from Colgate in 2008 and has many friends that she met there.

No way. There is diversity. It might not look like it in your small classes but go to a decent sized party/event and you'll definitely see "diversity".

Colgate's atmosphere, especially for student organizations, strongly encourage cooperation and co-sponsorship of events. So students are willing to work with others across the board.
