Getting a C in middle school

I took algebra in middle school, i got a C because i didnt know that it would b counted on your GPA. But in HS i have gotten all As. Should i retake algebra to make that C an A? or do colleges really not care about middle school that much. I took it in 7th grade

They care about it if it's a high school graduation requirement like algebra and geometry. It goes on your high school transcript, which colleges ultimately see. A C isn't good if you're going for the TOP TOP schools in the country, but they'll see the upward trend too. And I doubt it would matter too much.

No. A middle school grade does not go on your high school transcript (though some schools have programs where middle school students take high school classes).

Take it from me, someone who often got Cs in middle school, it won't stop you from getting into good colleges.

    A 7th grade class? won't matter

In our school district, high-school-level courses taken in middle school--typically algebra I, geometry, and Spanish I--go on the high school transcript and count toward the cumulative GPA. Low grades in the 7th or 8th grade can affect class rank years later. No, it doesn't seem fair. But what's done is done, and there's no point in losing sleep over it at this point.

Thanks for the condescending tone, BillyMc, but I know what I'm talking about. The first thing on my HIGH SCHOOL transcript (the transcript that gets sent to colleges) is my algebra grade from 8th grade because algebra is a course you're required to pass to graduate.

I took Algebra I in middle school and it's not on my transcript. Ask your guidance counselor to see if your school puts it on.

even if it's on your transcript, i really doubt that colleges would care about a middle school grade, even the most selective ones. i don't know if your school factors it into your gpa, so it might hurt you that way, but no school is going to count it against you, especially if you've gotten all As throughout high school.

please check right away with your own county's school board of ed. it sounds like different counties/states have different policies! our county defintely counts all high school courses towards your high school gpa and class rank. i checked this out before i let my kids take any and warned the kids about this so they could really concentrate on those classes in middle school that 'counted'. i looked on their website and also had them send me an email answering my question so i could get it straight. its important to one of my kids since he is aiming for selective schools to get an A on all 5 of the high school classes he took in middle school. other kids found that they did quite poorly in their middle school algebra I class. they figured they could just re take it in high school. true but the school averaged the 2 grades...just contact your own district for policies and dont take this forum's word for it...

What were your 7th grade SATs and ECs?

Generalizing to the whole like that is a logical fallacy. Just because your school does something does not mean all do. Your initial statement treated it as if it was the case overall, as opposed to just how your particular school is.
