How to improve for Junior and Senior year?

So basically my situation is this- my freshman year was horrendous.. a 2.9 GPA, with no honors/AP's, and never picking up a book to study. Then I decided that maybe high school does matter, so my sophomore year i took 2 Ap's (A in one, B- in other) and 1 honors (biology). I ended up with a 3.53 GPA for sophomore year with a much more challenging schedule. Junior year i will be taking 3 AP's and 1 honors, and will aim for a 4.0+. I've always done well on standardized testing, and don't think ill have a problem with a 30+ on the ACT. My EC's aren't anything to spectacular either.. A few volunteer hours painting a low budget school, and helping out with political campaign (1 a year). First thing next school year I will be joining 2-3 school clubs. What else can I do to give myself a shot at top university's'? (UIUC, Cornell, Northwestern, Uchicago, Umichigan)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
