Do colleges need my high school transcript?

I dropped out of high school a year ago due to some traumatizing personal struggles; now, I'm 17 and I've gotten my GED. Though my SAT/ACT scores are decent (2250 and 34, might re-take them to improve), my high school transcript from my freshman/sophomore years is an appalling document filled with nothing but F's and the occasional D. I want to go to a university, but I'm afraid that they'll request to see my HS transcript and I'll have to resort to attending community college for two years, and quite frankly I'd rather put a bullet through my skull than have to go through with that. Will I need to provide my transcript or not? Please help me out, thank you.

You will have to provide your complete high school record to colleges, including transcripts. Your option is to provide explanation in your essay.

You will still have lots of choices available to you with those strong scores.

You will need to show your transcript, but with those SAT/ACT scores you clearly aren't a F/D student so if you do a good job explaining yourself you should be fine!
