Thanks T26, hjn.
Yeah pre-sorting was exactly my concern. Seemed hard for me to believe that it was honestly a random process, and that a legit candidate might not get an interview while a super longshot in the same town might get one. But your explanation makes sense.

Heheh. I almost slept through my University of Chicago interview. On top of that, I had been reading the email in my mind as "USC" interview and had THAT spiel prepared. Luckily, I woke up with 10 minutes to check my email one last time, discover my mistake, and sprint to the coffee shop. I think it went well in the end...we talked for over an hour, so I guess that's good.

The interview process was fun, but I guess it didn't have much impact in the admissions process for me.

If I'm a junior now, how early is too early to be doing interviews? I'm going to be visiting a school over Memorial day and I don't know if I'd get a chance to go up there again. Is that too early?

So I'm going to be visiting Gtown in a few months, and it is my top top top choice, so I had a question--
Do you think it is better to do one's interview on campus, or back home with an alumnus?

Personally, I would bring a resume--I brought one to my Kenyon interview in March and my interviewer seemed pleasantly surprised. From your username I'm assuming you're a girl, in that case a nice skirt or pants and blouse should be suitable. They might ask you about your extracurricular activities (esp. if you bring a resume), why you're interested in Hopkins, what you could contribute to the community etc.

I hope that helps, good luck with your interview!

I thought it was fun. interviews are conversations and if you know how to talk you'll be fine. there was a trivia section about gtown history which i failed, but it wasn't a big deal.

Thank you for the trivia thing!
Where did you have your interview (coffee shop, house, etc.)?
