Just how important is senior grades, and mid year report compared to the dec. report?

I heard that sophomore and junior marks are more important than senior marks. (that they look at the senior course load more than the marks)

of course I can't just fail everything in senior year.

just how important are senior marks?

and I also heard that senior mid term report is not that important unless I go down alot.(compared to dec. transcript report)

are these 2 things true?

School is important. Just do your best, and only slack off some.

It would be logical to actually give them a lot of weight, because usually applicants are a lot more loaded and stressed in first semester (apps, coursework, sat's, you name it!) and corresponding grades would show how you deal with it. For example, if your gpa raises first semester that would be more impressive than a raise in 10>11 grade. And if it falls, that would show your weaknesses at major challenges...
Or maybe not..i dont know
