Amherst College...

So.

I was approached by my French teacher the other day. He is an alumini of Amherst College. He said he wants to send in my name to Amherst College for an information packet because he thinks I am a worthy student.

So anyway. He is my French teacher from Freshman year, and he said he would be willing to write me a recommendation.

Ummm... am I better off getting a recommendation from a teacher of my Junior or Sophomore year...

Or am I better off getting a recommendation from my French teacher of Freshman year, who graduated from Amherst.

(Sorry... my question-mark key is broken, haha)

I think that if he approached you, he must have a very good recommendation in mind. While it's not conventional, it won't hurt you at all.

Otherwise, if you're confident your junior year recommendation would be good, you can send in his as a supplemental.

^ The only thing is that he doesn't know my personally. He doesn't think of me as the bubbly, upbeat person that I am, like other teachers do. For some reason, my French teacher's austere demeanor never allowed any jokes to be cracked or smiles to be lit.

he is a Amherst alumni. He obviously knows what kinda people Amherst wants...really do let him write the recommendation. And if I'm not wrong, I think Amherst requires TWO recommendations so get the other one from the teacher who thinks you're bubbly, upbeat etc...
