| I got rejected from Clemson, UGA, and Air Force Academy and waitlisted at Georgia Tech (which was probably the school I wanted to go most). Didn't even apply to a safety. Couple days ago I received an e-mail from Tech asking if I wanted to get off the waitlist by doing Summer Session |

| I was waitlisted at Grinnell and am doing my best to get off...My dad (who is an alumnus) received a courtesy call from the interim head of admissions who informed him of my being waitlisted, but said I am "high priority" or something. I've since been emailing with the interim head, have sent in a new essay/letter that speaks to why I want to attend, and a list of new accomplishments and activities since my application was mailed. I'm also not in need of financial aid...
Do you think I can get off the waitlist??? I really hope I can...If not, then I will be at Lewis & Clark next year (which I love, but I love Grinnell even more..) |

| Hi...im an international student who was waitlisted at Grinnell..Didnt i get the shock of my life when a few days ago, i received a phone call letting me know that i had succeed in getting off the list for the class of 2012...to top it all off, i got a full scholarship(my parents are smiling ear-to-ear)...a true miracle...compared to others, my SAT 1 & 2 scores are amazingly lower(barely above average). my school doesnt have the GPA system but compared to my class, im ranked pretty highly. I believe I had a wide range of ECs, notable leadership roles, mission statement type essays and probably strong recommendations..but the response from Grinnell still stuns me. I did send a convincing essay as to why they should accept me but i doubted it would be worth much before may 1st. how i did it? still stunned...goes to show that miracles(or if there is something more drastic) can happen... now i wanna find out whether Johns Hopkins intends to pull a similar stunt.... Good luck to you all...

| I'm waitlisted at MIT, Cornell, Columbia and Harvey Mudd. I would give up my spot on the other Waitlists if it meant I could go to MIT |

| jerushs, I can understand your doubt and won't take it personally but let me assure you that i have been admitted(I haven't got the time to waste on such foolish games especially on such a serious issue). Because of my location here in Africa, access to internet is a bit harder (unfortunately, I can't spend hours and hours a day drooling over the CC site). Plus I'm pretty new to this site anyway so I only setup an account to give hope to others. I tried to edit the spelling errors in my last post but it refused to go through. Anyway, I was just letting you all know that getting off the waitlist is a real possibility and can happen at any time all to your suprise. Compared to some of the other applicants who were rejected, I was equally amazed (hence the name, born to amaze). This was my first acceptance(rejected and waitlisted by the rest :-(...)! I can only advice those of you anxiously waiting for responses to not give up on hope and realise that although a handful of people may get off the waitlist, no one says that it can't be you. Good luck to you all and hopefully, we will all find ourselves where we want to be. |
