Could be the backlash from the lacrosse scandal as well I suspect. Sounds like Cornell is taking several people off, even if Stanford's had a good year.

Yeah. They got alot of bad publicity from that and i did hear their app total was lower than last year. Feel really bad for them. But at the same time, I can only imagine what Va Tech's yield will be this year after 2 shootings in one year.

I have a question... say a representative from a school calls you to ask whether you'll accept their offer off the waitlist... does that mean you've accepted a place or does that mean you're just letting them send you the acceptance package so that you can consider accepting?

I'm on two waitlists with a a school clearly as my first choice, so I'm just curious.

Kinda both - they want you to say yes b4 they send you the stuff. But usually they dont eve ntell you your finaid, so you can use that as an out. Waiting for the package will give you some time. Legally, you haven't done anything till you send back a card or form from that package. If #1 has not called by that time, then call them and tell them whats up, and ask if you are close or whatever.

artsavedmylife, my sister is friends with the Wellesley admissions dean and she said if you get a call asking about accepting from the waitlist, you automatcially say "I will go 100% guaranteed". Any uncertainty may result in you not getting an extended offer for admission.

well, you cant be stagnant in your approach to getting of the W.L. Simply waiting for a decision is the worse way to get accepted. You should be emailing, calling, and sending letters to admissions, talking about how its ur top cohice and how you would matriculate 100% if offered extended admission offers.
