Alcohol in the room...medical school violation

Ok so I am a college freshman, and tonight I got caught with alcohol in my dorm room. I was not drinking anything, and my roommates and some others brought it in, but the policy at my college is that if you are "knowingly present" in a room with alcohol, the incident is automatically reported to the university. All of us have agreed to say that we weren't drinking even though we had alcohol in the room, and some of my roommates/friends were actually drinking. Most likely we will be fined, but I am more worried that this will go on my permanent record. I really hope to get into medical school, and I am wondering whether this incident will show up on my application in any way. I am especially worried about getting something that says "alcohol violation" on my record. Does anyone know what might likely happen and is there anything that I should do?

If you don't want to get caught breaking a rule, don't put yourself in a situation where you can get caught. You should have left the room.

I think it really depends on your university's policy as to what's going to happen next. Look into the student judicial procedures.

With one incident, no punishment is given usually....a warning. As FCY..stated, check with the student judicial board.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it yet, however.

It won't be on your transcript. Don't worry.

No medical school gives a damn that you have an alcohol violation. When you apply to med school you will be 22 and they seriously don't care at all. They wouldn't even care if you had an MIP. As long as it's not an academic violation, you are fine. Everyone reading your medical school application drank underage in college. It's fine. I promise.
