| I wholeheartedly agree with geezermom. Why did we parents have to dig up this info for you (and it was easy to do, btw).
BTW, mrchipmunk, I do know of someone who recently decided to decline Northwestern, and instead selected the Honors program at Maryland. I don't know if she emailed Northwestern to let them know of her decision, but I imagine you are hoping she did. There are probably people on the Loyola and Marist waitlists who would appreciate the same courtesy.
OK-- scolding over. Just do it.

| Good decision mrchipmunk!! I hope the other students follow suit. It is the right thing to do. Success, as they say, is in the details. |

Chill out, I did it already. I don't trust CB, so I had tried finding them on the schools' own websites, which was not as easy as it may sound. Loyola's was especially difficult to find. That is why I turned to CC to try to help me out. At least I did it, unlike some other people (one of whom you know) who didn't even bother to do it at all. |

| Mrchipmunk-
As you see, your congratulations for doing the right thing were duly noted. I will happily pass the chill pill to you. I have no idea who the reference is to "one of whom I know" but if you give me a hint, I'll ride their tail too!!
PS-- it really was pretty easy info to find... |

| We did send an e-mail to admissions declining, and got this response -
"Greetings from the _____ College Undergraduate Admission Office!
Please note that we are unable to respond to your message due to the high volume of e-mail and spam mail that we receive daily.
You are encouraged to call our office at 1-800-______ between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm EST Monday through Friday.
Thank you for your interest in ______ College." |

| LOL mamabear!
DS did find, with one big U, there was a "generic" email address for the Admissions office, where general interest inquiries went (and from which those kind of responses wer generated) and there was another email address, that he got either in an email to him or some other mailing, that had more specific email contact info. But, if they are gonna make it hard to reach them by email, faxing is probably the next best and easiest thing. |

| mrchipmunk-
I said I did not know whether or not she replied to Northwestern. To be honest, I assume she did.
Now, if the rest of the students will do as you did, the waitlists might move a little faster. You set a good example, mrchipmunk, by contacting the schools. Lets hope collegeappwoes, steph, and the others who seem to be blowing off this responsibility will do the right thing too. |

| My son found that, even with the big state U's and their generic Admissions Office email addresses, within a few days his decline was acknowledged. If anyone out there is feeling like sending it to the generic email address is a waste of time - just do it anyway. |
