Is it customary for schools to include your ACT scores that you did NOT want sent in on your transcript? This make absolutely no sense to me. I did not ask them to do this. I did NOT want them to do this.

Can I demand they redo them without the scores or with only the scores that I actually want to submit?

EDIT: Oh and they still haven't finished calculating GPA or class rank from Junior year and just didn't put that information on the transcript! Is my school as terrible as I'm thinking it is?

I think you should demand that they redo your transcript with only the scores you want. You should let guidance know that colleges give students the option to pick which scores they want sent.

If your school calculates GPA based only on 9th and 10th, they will indicate on the application that that GPA is only of 9th and 10th. If they calculate it after junior year they will probably do it soon and indicate on the application it is after junior year.

"Demanding" probably won't be necessary. I just walked into the registrar's office and asked. They were very nice. I think they started putting it on the transcript to keep you from having to pay to have it sent to every scholarship you for which you might be applying. Try making a simple request before making a scene.

They did not put 9th or 10th grade GPA, they just didn't put a GPA.

That doesn't sound good... hopefully they are in the process of putting that (very important) information on there? The only other thing I can think of is that the counselor might include that info on your counselor report? Definitely go in and ask. Maybe demanding isn't such a bad idea!!!

Some high schools will decide what scores to put on your transcript and you can't do anything about it.That's why scores shouldn't be sent to your high school until after you have received the scores and found them acceptable.

My kids' high school includes ALL standardized test results on their transcripts as a matter of course. If they do not want the test results to go out to any specific school, they have to request that the scores NOT be included on the transcript. And yes, the one time D1 asked that a score not be sent out, she checked the transcript before it was mailed out and of course, the score was on the form - oops! Oh well, the records office people are human.

It is a good question to ask, I was surprised when I first saw that their high school put EVERY standardized test score on the transcript - from state testing to PSAT's to SAT's and SAT II's. I'm sure that every high school is slightly different in their transcript practices (and traditions).

The federal law about this issue makes clear that high schools should NOT put student test scores on a high school transcript unless the students have specifically signed off with permission to do that. The College Board website has links about that, and I think ACT's site may as well. That's the law. A student should be able to ask for the scores to be removed, unless the school already has a waiver on file.
