| Accepted....
Our family is acquainted with a brilliant senior who was just accepted at Cal Tech. This individual had an ACT of 36, Math SAT 800, many APs with 5s, special summer program, attending a prestigious college part time and taking mathematics classes at the junior level (college). Received all As at the college. Added to that is fine musical ability.

| Don't sweat the deferrals
For all the EA applicants who got deferred, don't worry. So many people apply EA just to have some acceptances under their belt before their top choice letters start rolling in. The pool is competitive and your answers today are not at all indicative of the answer you will get in April. This is an exciting time, so if you are deferred, show your college why you belong at that school. Write extra letters, visit the campus, use the extended time to reflect on why you want to go there so badly. That is something none of the RD applicants cannot do, so in a way it will give you a competitive edge the second time around.
Best of luck to all of you!

Got accepted to UMN Twin Cities, Knox, Cornell College, Drake, Luther.
All those were safety schools though. I'm submitting my application for my top choice (Macalester) next week. Congrats to everyone who were accepted!

tttony: Great going! Now that you're in with the safeties maybe you can try something adventurous! Best of luck for the highly-rated Mac, though!
