as a reference to the rest of us, what are some extra curriculars that you found useful/helpful/rewarding?

If you are dedicated and play a musical instrument, marching band is a very rewarding EC. You not only get better at your instrument, you learn discipline, hard work, dedication, teamwork, loyalty. Plus, you get to meet so many other people and have loads of fun.

The EC's for which YOU have a passion are the rewarding ones. And are probably not the same as for your sibling or your friends.

I love volunteering at the local hospital and tutoring for free the most
But, like others have said, it really is what you personally find the most rewarding

Air guitar ensemble. No joke. We met once a week in my bedroom ("we" meaning "I"). Thursday afternoon from 3:30 - 4:30... best hour of the week.

personally i loved drama and the arts (fine arts, photography, etc.). so i looked up one of our art galleries and looked for volunteer opportunities there.
i found this great program where you interact with little children with skits and games, all of it based on the exhibition that the gallery is currently doing. it was a great way of seeing how an art gallery is run plus you get free admission to all these great tourists places as a result of being a volunteer.
that's probably the best EC i've done thus far.
