If named QB National Match Finalist, Oct. score can/will be sent directly to match schools.

Anyone have list finally sorted out?

Keep adding and subtracting schools trying to get down to bare minimum.

GetToCollege, MIT requires two subject tests, not three. One should be a math and the other a science.

MIT probably won't even look at US Hist - only Math & Science..... Oh Boy!

I apologize if these questions are answered on the QuestBridge site or in this topic/a previous topic.

1) If you are not selected as a Finalist, is there anything left you can do with your QuestBridge application?
2) If you are selected as a finalist and decide to list schools for their Match program, are you also allowed to apply EA to a "partner school" via the Common Application?

If you are a finalist, and you indicated the schools that you want to apply to RD, those apps will be forwarded at no cost. You need to check on the QB site for each school, as some have other requirements for RD.

Regarding your 2nd question, you are applying EA to the schools, thus you need not apply directly to the school via common app.

edit: sorry, just saw that you said if you are NOT a finalist. Check the QB site, some schools will still waive your app fee, others won't.

I'm aware, but suppose the school is binding if I use QuestBridge but not binding otherwise (Caltech, UChicago, and possibly others). If I don't want to be accepted binding to it, is it possible to use EA via the Commonapp?

Thank you for the information on fee waivers in regular decision. Will they ever see the QuestBridge actual application though?

I don't know if I'm reading your question clearly, but you cannot apply to EA and Questbridge at the same time. Also, you can just take the benefit of being a finalist for the questbridge application, and take that merit to just apply EA without partaking in the college match portion of the application.

If not accepted as a finalist, everything must be done regularly I believe. However, at least you have some idea what your essays will be about.

And if you are not accepted in the college match portion, questbridge sends the colleges that you ranked the questbridge application directly for RD (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is for most schools, and not all?). And you have a waved fee, and the merit of being a questbridge finalist, which is a big deal considering... Hope I could be of help, however remember that the questbridge site has a lot of information on it that you could read.

Ugh! So many false alarms. The outline for the application is up, but not the actual application. But good news to the ones that applied for the Prep Scholarship, we have to do less work.

Really? How so? I've been stressing because ds is gone until the end of the week and so I thought he was missing valuable time to work on the app. How does doing the college prep scholarship help?

does anyone have experience with getting named as A Questbridge scholar finalist whose file is less than stellar? I don't mean low test scores but a 4.0, I mean student who is good but not excellent?

I am mentoring a child who has a GPA that is closer to 3.0 than 4.0, some Cs on AP classes but solid extra currics and compelling mitigating life circumstances and life goals.

I think this program is well worth it if you are underprivileged and valedictorian, but is it worth it if you fit the criteria but your academic achievements are a little less than stellar do you still have a chance? or is it better to just apply ED to QB schools (which are probably reach schools). thanks in advance for the replies.

Ugh. I wrote a response, and then it got deleted.

You don't say - The application is not officially up until August I believe. I tried to access it yesterday, and it says "Access Denied". There's an outline and everything, but no application yet. So your ds will have enough time to work on it if he comes at the end of the week. As for the Prep one, you have to do less classes (financial aid, etc...the classes you need to complete before you access the application), and some of the responses (probably the more generic ones..I'm not sure about the essays because they might change every year) from the Prep Scholarship transfer to the college match application. However keep in mind that the application for the college match will probably be longer than the one for the Prep.

Wjibara - I would definitely recommend Questbridge because you really don't have much to lose other than time. And even then, you can reuse the essays for Questbridge for something else whether it be scholarships, other college apps, etc. And keep in mind that the Questbridge Finalist status is sent out before the ED apps are due, so you can still turn those in if you don't get accepted as a finalist. So unless you are really worried about time constraints, you should do the Questbridge app. Essays and recommendations play a big role as well as the academic part so you could get their attention there. Good luck. (when I say "you", I mean the student you are mentoring. sorry).

Hmmmm......excitedG, what classes are you referring to? I don't remember D having to do anything other than register an account. Is this something new?

Does the finalist process really mean very much? 50% get in, so are they really selective, or do they just not have many spots/weed out the ineligible?
