Good luck to everyone!! I know it may seem like a far away date, but if you don't think about it (and maybe focus on those RD apps for other schools in case) it'll definitely roll around faster than you know
Personally, I think doing Questbridge paid off nicely, whether or not I get matched. We now have 3 essays (more if applied to school with supps and wrote additional ones) that we are free to use for other schools. It worked out for me that part of my Graduation Project is doing the Common App, so QB forced me to finish that earlier than the deadline GOOO QUESTBRIDGEE!

Hey, I just received my Penn portal information. If I attend the National College Match, am I supposed to choose Early Decision on the Penn Financial Aid Supp form or Regular Decision?

Doing the College Match doesn't hurt at all. If you don't get Matched, you get a SECOND CHANCE. And the admit rate for QuestBridge finalist seems (and in some cases, is by proof) higher than the general admit rate. Plus... let's say I have a 1.7% chance at a Match at Yale, and then an 11% change in the RD forwarding rounding... bam, I already have 5% more of a chance than most applicants. Not bad eh?

Well you cant just add up percents and think look at it like that...
its like having a person apply to all the ivies and claims that statistically, they should have a 100% chance of getting into one, but they dont get into any because their SAT is 1800...
Schools like stanford and yale admit an incredibly low number for the match based on the apps they receive....i looked at all of 12 stanford's match admits and all of them were URM...
My best hope is Penn--they admitted 26 for the match last year--and since its binding I dont think as many people ranked Penn as they did PYS

Princeton had the most matches last year. (But they're decreasing it by alot this year).
There were 30 Princeton matches last year. But assuming that only 1/5 of those matched actually put Princeton first...Princeton would've 'accepted' 150 kids.
Since there are 2470 finalists, assume that a max of 2000 kids ranked Princeton. 150/2000 or 7.5% chance.
So probably down to ~4% chance this year. Not bad, not bad. |

When I submitted my common app, all the tabs in my essays disappeared and all my "--" turned into Š o_o;; did this happen to anyone else? I'm afraid that my app looks too messy...not that I can do anything about it now...:/
&GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!! |

| CodeH, I know you are just making random assumptions, but even under the hypothetical above, you cannot assume the 150 number. Let's say your hypothetical other 120 didn't rank Princeton #1, you cannot assume that the school or schools that these applicants ranked ahead of Pton chose them. For your theory to be correct, every one of the "120" would have also had to have been matched to another school that they had ranked higher. For example student x ranked Penn #1, Stanford #2, and Princeton #3. Under your theory, you are assuming that either Penn or Stanford wanted applicant x as well as Pton. For this hypothetical to happen to all "120" students is HIGHLY unlikely.

Does anyone else know if other schools are planning to cut down on the number of matched applicants?

GA2012MOM: yea. I was just making a wildly unjustified and mathematically incorrect assumption.
Is there anyway to get the data regarding the number of matches Princeton made last year?

CodeH, I don't think any schools release that data. I'm sure QB is the only ones who know. It would be interesting.

| Why is Stanford not acknowledging application as Questbridge
Did anyone else who ranked Stanford get an e-mail from Stanford saying they received the application for regular decision and would notify April 1rst with results. Also the e-mail listed numerous items missing, like transcript and recommendations that were sent via mail over a month ago. Should Questbridge or Stanford be contacted to make sure that application gets registered as a Questbridge National match not regular decision?
