Hey muffinish, I found the 2 essay topics (in addition to the biographical essay) on the 2008 questbridge thread =)
These were the prompts from last year:
Essay #1, Choose one:
A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your background, please describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
If you could change one thing about your community, what would it be and why?
Describe an experience you have had or a concept you have learned that intellectually excites you. When answering this question, you may want to consider some of the following questions: Why does this topic excite you? How does it impact the way you or other experience the world? What questions do you continue to ponder about it?
Essay #2
Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
I'm a bit disappointed. Haha. I really liked the superhero prompt on the 2007 app!

Yeah I would think so.
But I think the prompts will stay, for the most part, pretty consistent..well from what I've noticed from 2007-2008 haha

| Quick question about Questbridge
I got an email today from them inviting me to apply for their program, but the only thing is I'm not exactly low-income, more like middle class. Should I just ignore the email then, since this program probably isn't intended for me?

It's preferred that your income is below 60K, but if you are above, yet live in extremely poor conditions, then you should apply...it's intended for low-income people who are traditionally underrepresented, and could succeed at a top tier college.

hmm, I guess I don't really fit the criteria, I mean we have a house and everything, we're not poor...
Too bad, the program looks great, and I would like to apply. But if that means I would get help vs. somebody whose family makes 30k a year, I probably shouldn't.

Does anyone know when the application will be up? Will it be around August 15 (last year's date)?

I was just wondering: is it worth it to apply with Questbridge if I only want to go to two of the partner colleges? I'm planning on applying to Northwestern and Rice. Will it make enough of a difference to apply through Questbridge instead of the regular app?

| It might. And the QuestBridge application is good practice for the overall application process.
Good luck in your applications.

WakeUp: if you go with Questbridge, fees are waived! isn't that enough haha? the rest doesn't really make a difference. i personally think it helps, but some may disagree |

| Application Fees are waived for all shools if you are a finalist. If you are not a finalist, it is up to each school whether to waive your fee. Rice waives the fee for a non-finalist, Northwestern does not. This information and for all other schools can be found on the QB site.

This is double post --maybe this thread will get 'better' coverage??
Disappointed that only 4 Questbridge Finalists replied to the thread - Hey Questbridge 2009 - Where RU Going?!
Thank you for sharing to those that did reply - and very best of luck in your great school choices (acceptances!) Awesome, awesome accomplishments !!!!
It would be a BIG help to know how others faired in the college admissions quest...............
As a Questbridge Finalist -
1. Did you ignore applying thru Questbridge Match and just apply to 1st choice school EA? (mentioning of course, on your app. that you were a Questbridge Finalist?)
(What was the result?)
2. Did you apply thru Questbridge Match choosing 8 partner schools?
(What was the result?)
3. Did you apply thru Questbridge Match & choose only the 'non-binding' partner schools ?
(What was the result?)
4. If no Match - To which schools did Questbridge forward your application for Reg. Decision -??
(What was the result?)
5. If no Match and ALSO denied admission Re: Reg. decision to ANY Questbridge partner schools - To which 'outside' schools did you apply? ie. Harvard, WashU etc.
(What was the result?)
Inquiring minds want to know???
Thanks for the input here.................

I applied to only one school through match because I wanted Yale very much - and I actually got matched!
