@xctf: Prepare your portfolios. Don't send them in early unless you know you're a finalist.

@Code H: It depends on the situation, there isn't any specific way to do it, as the QB approach is very holistic, and they certainly won't analyze you solely on the tone of your essay. If you're stronger at the literary approach, however, I'd recommend that over the analytical approach. When it's ready, I can review it for you if you find that it needs that.

thanks alexandrafitzmor! I think I'll do the more informative approach and save the literary side of me for the other 2 essays. |

Somebody mentioned Dartmouth?! Wow. Please, please, please don't bother coming here unless you've already read the QB website!

I'm pretty sure the application started the 1st full week of August. I'm not sure of the specific date, but I recieved my letter on August 5th, so in actuality, you haven't missed that much. Its due September 30th, so I would crack down on it now and try to get as much done before school, but don't panic or anything. Nothings considered before the 30th of September, so its better not to rush and make any mistakes.

my school is switching to a newly-formed district (population growth)... it's impossible to EMail my teachers or counselor! I might not be able to contact them until like Sep 8th! ****
sorry just had to let that out
EDIT: By the way, Yale specifically says "Don't re-send recommendations through Common Application, Questbridge Recs are enough" (paraphrased). BUT, Stanford wants recommendations re-sent. So basically, since I'm sending all the extra stuff through Common App to both of those schools at the same time, Yale will get those extra recommendations anyway. They won't mind, will they? Is there maybe a way to only send recs to one school, while still sending the Common Application identically and at the same time to both schools?
I hope that made sense lol

@flyingllama: I'm trying to think of some way you can do that, and it isn't coming to mind. But here is what I'll recommend: send a note to Yale, and explain the added recommendation.

@hiilikeyoux3: Didn't we go over this a while ago? I would recommend using junior year teachers unless you need to use a sophomore teacher. If you use one sophomore teacher, try to make the second a junior year teacher.
Simply put, it just isn't in good form to manipulate the few restrictions QB puts on applicants. Remember- most students are going to be in the same boat in regards to recommendations!

@flyingllama: Yeah, it's my name. I guess in a way, it's really easy for people to look me up and see what I'm up to, where I live and who I am, etc (you could very easily find me on Facebook or email me), but I don't really mind. Either they'll be interested in learning about me, which is okay; or they'll be trying to steal my identity, in which case it will be entirely NOT worth it.
I can tell you this, though: admissions officers DON'T have time to search you online. You're more likely to be stalked in future years by QB prospects (hahaha!).

| Questbridge vs Regular decision?
If I were to apply to Columbia unviersity regular decision as a regular applicant and I applied for financial aid, instead of through questbridge, and I was admitted, would I receive a full scholarship if my family's annual income was less than 60K?
My family's income is between 30-40K.
If so, what is the point of questbirdge?
