It depends if you would feel happy, for sure, at all 8 of those matched schools. Personally I only used stanford and yale for the match round (both were non binding anyway), and applied to all the other schools during the regular round. It is a lot of work either way, and you have to do the same amount of applications. If you can do all 8 by November, and feel that you like all of them, go for the matching all of them. If not, just apply to only 1 or 2 match round and do the rest later.

I am doing scholarship/college research this summer before my senior year and I found the QuestBridge program. I have been studying for the SATs and ACTs for awhile but I have yet to take them and I also haven't taken any AP tests because I was planning on taking them at the end of my senior year. Basically my question is, am I too late to apply for the College Match program because I won't be taking my ACTs until September, my SATs in October and my 5 AP tests in May?

The last testing dates for which QuestBridge can accept results are October 4 for the SAT I and II, and September 13 for the ACT. There is a question on the application that you can use to indicate if you took the September ACT or will be taking the October SAT.

There is also
a section on the app to indicate the AP tests you will be taking in May.

Actually, are the October SAT test dates considered for finalist status? I don't know...

And...so I want to know if I even stand a chance, or if I should just apply to SCEA at Stanford because I took the SAT multiple times, and my best (which wasn't even my latest test) barely scraped the 1900 line. I know...it sucks. Lol However, my subject tests are outstanding, as is every other standardized test, grades, EC, etc....should I even try, or will that 1900 make it almost impossible?

As far as the SCEA to Stanford vs. Questbridge, that is only a decision you can make. If you were my child, I would advise you to do the QB app just because your SAT1 score might be a tad bit on the low side, and the extensive QB essay's would give you more of a chance to present yourself to Stanford and show your other fine qualities.

I would actually just do the QB match... but only because the schools I would rank automatically consider you for RD, without any additional hassle. You can still send new scores but all of the forms and various processes are done with. That just sounds really peaceful, and I would be able to focus on other things. I just think it's the most efficient option... Plus, as GA2012MOM said, the extra essays you can write beat out the higher acceptance rate of ED/EA/SCEA.

It is like ED in that you can only apply to one school, but SCEA is not binding, whereas ED is.

Woah...I just read the 2008 and some of 2007 Questbridge posts on a different forum, and i got nervous for them even though they already have everything sorted. Lol...I'm going crazy already.

ExcitedG, yes it is very stressful because it is so extensive in such a short time frame. From application due date to match date, it is only 2 months. Having gone through it with my D, I would strongly suggest that you start doing organizational things now. Make file folders, desk calenders, or however is good for you with all necessary deadlines, materials needed, tests needed, supplements, financial aid forms, etc. etc. Contact your teachers that you will need for rec's as soon as the app comes out, and inform your guidance counselor that you need their rec and transcripts, and give them due dates. It is also a good idea to check with them and if necessary, give a gentle reminder a couple of weeks before the app is due. (Don't forget a nice thank you note to them )

A good way to do this would be to go to the QB website, and print out info for each school you might apply to, then start from there. Let your parents know about FA info that you will be needing, and talk to them about the process. Although the QB packages are fantastic, you still will need to discuss with them things such as additional costs of transportation. I cannot stress enough to START NOW!!!

My family has a EFC of about $1200 (income around $55,000). From what I've gathered, this is still too high a EFC to Match, especially at schools like Yale and Princeton. Is this an accurate assessment (that I have little to no chance at making it in the early match round)? If not I was thinking of applying for Finalist status, foregoing the Match process, and stick with QB for RD, so that I can EA to some other school. If I choose to do this (and if it's a reasonable move), could I SCEA at Yale or another Questbridge school or do I have to do it with a non-QB school? Ideally I'd like to make it to Finalist, not rank any schools for match, apply SCEA to Yale, and if I get deferjected, continue with my QB app in RD. However, I don't know if this is even possible. Can someone illuminate me?

Check that one out carefully. I believe some QB schools say that if you are a finalist, you cannot opt out of match in order to apply to their school early. There will be a page on the QB site for each school; go to the one for the school of your choice and pick it apart for answers. Worst case scenario -- find out who the QB contact at that school is, call that person at the school itself, and ask.

That being said, while some schools do not match unless the applicant has a zero EFC, I do not believe Yale is one of them.

new thing in addition to my previous question, GA2012MOM. you said i could check that i am testing in september for ACT and october for SAT but am i still eligible for the college match or is that for the regular decision process?

You will be eligible for the match. I believe there is a place on the app to put the test and the date to be taken. Check the QB website to double check on those deadlines though. D took her ACT in October, and used it for the match.
