| Am I Lopsided?
I heard if you have uneven stats you should apply to a lot of schools because admissions is more shotty for someone like that.
So if I have a 2190(690M 760CR 740W) on the SAT but I am not in the top quarter of my class at an average school and will have only taken 2 AP's by the time I graduate.....
Do I qualify as lopsided? Should I be sending more apps just in case?

Not being in the top quarter in an average school with those scores seems to indicate you are skating in school. You should make sure you look at your state universities which might weight scores higher than GPA/ranking.

Thanks, unfortunately my state university is Texas and I don't think I can get in there. Will the unevenness of my stats make admissions a crapshoot? So should I apply to lots of schools just in case?

I'm not sure it's that much of a "crapshoot." Sounds like you didn't apply yourself in HS. Your SAT scores say you're smart. Your middling class rank suggests someone with your smarts could have done better in HS with effort. This is not the combination the best colleges are looking for. Apply broadly, but with the expectation that you won't be admitted to most highly selective schools, including the University of Texas-Austin. Look for schools with 40%-50%+ acceptance rates.
I have to disagree with Erin's Dad here ^^^. In my experience, most state flagships weigh HS grades/class rank much more heavily than SAT scores.

What are you looking for in a college? Large or small? Urban or rural? Do you have a proposed major? Preppy or alternative? Big sports? Greek life? Religious or secular? It's impossible to recommend colleges based just on stats.

Large or small?- I could see myself enjoying either.
Urban or rural?- Once again, I would be happy with either.
Do you have a proposed major?- Geography/ Geology/ Enviro. Sci
Preppy or alternative?- Middle Ground
Big sports?- I would be happy with big D1 sports, but more importantly I want a very active intramural program
Greek life?- Doesn't matter, preferably not
Religious or secular?- No
There ya go hope that helps!

UT Dallas would certainly be a good match. Have you considered LACs? What do you want to study?

Onthefly -- Still hard to recommend colleges with such general info. I would recommend that you visit as many colleges as you can just to get a feel for what you like and don't like. If there are schools in nearby cities, arrange a weekend tour and info session. If you're going to visit your cousins out of state at Thanksgiving, go see the local college. Also, take a look at some books that describe different colleges, such as the Fiske guide. As you read about colleges, pay attention to what appeals to you and what turns you off. Ask some of your teachers and maybe your friends older siblings where they went to college and what they did and didn't like about it. If you are on a team or in a club at school and know some kids a couple of years ahead of you, contact them on facebook or over their vacation and talk to them about their colleges.

LAC's are fine. With such broad criteria as mine I am having a hard time narrowing it down, I guess since I feel like I'll be happy anywhere I will let money be the deciding factor and at least be nice to my parents
