There's a glaring fragment in my commonapp essay

I forgot to include "a" in a sentence and now it appears awkward

I also used Towards instead of toward

Personally, I prefer toward, but towards is equally correct.

in the start of one paragraph i wrote something like this

having made a promise to him, i stood in village on top of grass

i needed in [a] village

Well, no point in sweating it. That said, while you didn't finish your sentence, it is (at best) unclear how "on top of grass" was going to work well.
