Is this an automatic rejection?

I'm applying as an economics major to most schools but one of my teachers (and possibly counselor) mentioned my interest in languages/linguistics and international relations in recommendations. Many schools I'm applying to don't have int. relations major, so will they reject me because they think I didn't do research and applied to a school w/o int. relations major?

Colleges know that the vast majority of students change their majors at least once during their college careers. There's no issue here.

No. People often have interests outside the major they are pursuing.

One thought--if you are working on essays about why the school or your interests...can you address those interests and how they compliment eachother?
Not necessary but just a thought.
Good luck to you ;o)

No need to worry--on the application list economics as your proposed major--and I suspect all colleges have international relations courses, at least, even if the major is political science--or a do it yourself major of pol sci, history and economics. Good luck!
