AP Courses in the UK

I have just moved to the USA from the UK but I still want to return to the UK for University.
I know that AP Courses are required for applying to a UK Uni but i also know that not all universities accept AP courses as a form of higher education.
Approximately how what percentage of UK Uni's accept AP Courses?

I am just worried about this as I was due to start my A-Level studies in 2010 but chose to move instead. I had no idea that a standard high school diploma is work just 5 GCSE's !!! Thats terrible.
