Texas at Austin Business School

Hey I was looking for some good business schools in case I don't get into Penn Early Decision. I stumbled across Texas at Austin Business school, which had a pretty good ranking and I have heard a lot about. Is it that great? Also I was thinking about doing the honors program. I think I could get in but I am out of state. I have a 3.9 GPA UW/4.15 W and good extracurriculars (won intl competion, Eagle Scout etc) but ak low SAT (1300) but am retaking it again in the fall. Do you think I'll make it and do you have any suggestions for other schools. I thought Boston University looked good, but there business school seems weak.

it'll be very very hard for you to get into wharton with a 1300. Anyways it all depends on where you are and how many kids apply to UT austin from your state and location.
PS:
Maybe look at nyu stern and cmu tepper.

Yeah I know that SAT score will kill me at Penn, so hopefully I can pull of something in the fall. But yeah I am applying to Stern RD but it doesnt look too appealing due to its community. BTW I'm from Tennessee so I dont think many people from there apply to Texas.

You will have trouble getting into UT Austin business school from out of state with your stats. It is possible, but unlikely. You might get into the university, but getting into the business school is extremely competitive even for in-state kids with very high stats. Out of state is a negative for you- not an advantage-in this case. My S (in-state) does not consider UT business a "safety" even with very good academic stats. The automatic top 10% admit only applies to the university and does not guarantee a place in the business school. Business honors is almost as competitive as HYPSM et al.
You should look at Indiana business school. I believe it is on par with UT Austin and you would get a direct admit into the Kelley School and maybe some merit money.

Yeah, The McCombs School of Business, although it is at a state-school (UT), is very hard to get into. I don't think it's just because it's such a great school (although it is highly regarded in Texas), but there are just so many applicants, it makes it difficult to get into. It amazing how many applications UT gets evey year. EVERYBBODY wants to live in Austin and go to UT...well, everyone except me.
