COA Admissions Rep here!

Hello, my name is Daniel and I am currently a freshman at College of the Atlantic, located in Bar Harbor, Maine. We are an environmentally-focused school of about 300 students that is frequently praised for its intensive, small(12 student average), seminar-based classes among many other things. We have an international population of 17%, the 2nd highest in the United States, and we also have a self-designed curriculum that allows for flexibility among many fields. There is only one major here at College of the Atlantic, Human Ecology, but everyone walks away with something a little different.

If you are intrigued, I would be happy to talk to you, either in PM, or on this board. You can also call our admissions office at 800-528-0025 or 207-288-5015, or visit our website www.coa.edu

Thank you,

-Daniel

That international population percentage ranking seems very fishy.

The international population is correct. Obviously having a small amount of students helps boost that percentage, but we have a program funded by the Shelby Davis Foundation that allows United World College students to come to our college. This year we have students from the Maldives, India, Tanzania, South Africa, Italy, etc. If you want to really fact check, we have our common data set on the website.

ANd about Human Ecology, it's a very abstract concept that we struggle to define for our four years. If you are a person that likes each of your subjects to be closed-off and easily defined, then COA will probably not be for you. It's a major where we connect disciplines, apply problems to the real world and constantly challenge assumptions.
