Do most parents attend New Student orientation with their student, or are there kids attend without them? We will be in the middle of an major move and DD says her impression is that many kids go without parents and she hadn't planned to take us along. However, we don't want to send her alone if we are needed or she will be the only one there without parents. Looking at the schedule, it does not appear there is much information covered online that I can't get elsewhere, plus she is our 3rd so we're not really interested in the "how to let go" and "how your student will adjust" types of meetings. Is this an accurate perception?

I'm taking summer classes at CofC and on my way to class have been seeing a lot of students and parents around. If they don't say you have to come and your daughter feels she's okay on her own / you guys are okay sending her on your own, I think it's probably fine. If you really, really want to be there, it could definitely be interesting. I think it looks like they're getting tours and talking about campus policies and whatnot. The thing about the parents I've seen is most of them have been just sitting around the main part of the campus on benches, waiting for their kids to report back to them on what's going on...that sort of thing. It doesn't look like they're actually that involved in the orientation process.
