I loved the tour and the college but I have a few MAJOR concerns...

1. The freshman return rate for sophomore year is only 80%, in most schools I am looking at it is above 90

2. The graduation rate for 4 years is 40%, thats really scary, considering most students pay $120,000 and don't even graduate.

3. No football team? I mean I guess I could live with out one but what do kids do in fall?

can someone help me figure these out?

I think the return rate may be due to the locals who start there...and then move on to schools away from "home". Others may find it just isn't their "fit", it is a pretty unique place. My OOS student started with 18 credits for AP's and CHS classes, is now a double major and minor student on track for completing in 3.5 years so don't worry over grad rates. If you are a motivated student who stays on track...you can do it. If you go there to party and play at the beach...maybe not. Responsibility = success.

As for fall...it is gorgeous weather that keeps you busy & social; beaches, Marion Square, art & cultural events, festivals abound. If you can't live without football this is not your place. If you love a vibrant, culture-filled city with great food, shopping and TONS of events...you will fall in love with CofC. My D kept a list of guest speakers she heard, plays & concerts she attended, clubs she joined, causes she involved herself in, all of which make we wish I was back at school!
