Laptop…. Easy to carry and I’m use to it. (But will I REALLY take it to class for notes?)
Desktop…. Not so easily stolen out of a dorm room (who wants to lug that thing around?)
So do I go for what I’m use to or for what probably won’t be stolen?
my school requires laptops for incoming students. Even if you don't take it to class, you might take it to the library, or over to a friend's room to study or to a group meeting to work on projects.
I'd get a laptop. If all you want is a desktop anyway, then why not just save your money and use the library computers?
Yes...you'll definitely use your laptop!
...Just get a cable lock if you're afraid it'll get stolen!
Laptop gets my vote as well. What about going home on the weekends? My roommate with a desktop took his computer home over winter break only. Thanksgiving and Fall Break he did not. I took my laptop home with me everytime I went home throughout the semester.
I was going to have a beast desktop then decent laptop, but i'm more out of gaming than I previously was so there is no need for that desktop anymore for me.
If you code or play games a desktop notebook combo is best. If you dont do either a notebook is fine. Tuck on an external LCD if you want more screen real estate.
I'm planning on getting a laptop, for several of the reasons stated above. I'll be flying home on breaks (7-8 hour drive from home), so a laptop makes sense...also, i'll just keep it with me to avoid having it stolen, and I'll be able to take it to class for notes (I type a lot faster than I write).
Def a laptop, I travel back and forth and it's so much more convenient being about to take my computer with me.
And so true taking it with you means it won't get stolen from your dorm/house etc.
Just make sure you get a good protective laptop bag so it doesn't get damaged when you travel (I learnt that the hard way..ha)
