What do you guys think of this laptop?

Amazon.com: HP Pavilion DV2840SE 14.1" Special Edition Laptop (AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual Core TL-60 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium): Electronics

I'm considering buying it.

Any opinions?

Looks decent, wouldn't play heavy-duty games on it though.

My games don't go past addictinggames.com, so I'm hoping I'm fine in that category.

Looks good then, only concern might be that it's a little heavy for a 14 inch, but it looks pretty stylish.

I prefer Intel chips right now. Intel has a pretty big technical lead in processors. What are you planning on using it for?

It looks good, but I think you can find better deals over at newegg.

Pretty much the basics: Internet, Coursework, IM, but also Movies and TV media.

Also, how do you figure out if it has 64-bit or 32-bit Vista?

It'll always have 32-bit. 64-bit has a lot (more) of compatibility issues, so it's not used unless specifically requested.

it's fine, other than that it seems a bit heavy like skatj said. you won't be able to tell the difference between Intel and AMD anyway.

however, make sure you like HP's media buttons at the top of the keyboard...i find them annoying.

It's good; I got the 17" version a few months back and it runs well and looks amazing. HP only sells Vista Ultimate as 64 bit, so that's definitely 32 bit. You'll want to shop around though, as eva said. You can always find a good deal. I got $500 off the 17" HP ($1400 to $900) with a coupon from xpbargains.com, which I used at the official HP site to order the laptop. You might want to look into that.

You can get a 13.3" Dell XPS m1330 for just about that much money on Dell Outlet - Refurbished Computers - Refurbished Laptops - Refurbished PCs. There are some pretty excellent deals on that site.
