Should I get one now (as in tomorrow) or should I wait until July? I think the fiscal quarter for Dell ends in July so they might have some good deals then. There's a pretty good deal on the one I want to get tomorrow though. By the way, does anyone know the actual date for the end of Dell's quarter?

The new intel platform got pushed back until august, but the new AMD line will be coming out in july, but seeing as the XPS computers don't use AMD processors it shouldn't make a difference. You can find lots of coupons if you look too.

how fast a processor is necessar for a non-gamer. i plan on getting a 2.0Ghz, 2GB L2 Cache, 800Mhz FSB. Should this be enough?

For a non-gamer, I'd recommend anything that's Core 2 Duo so yes that is more than enough.

i dont know whether to get the 1330 or 1530. On one hand i think the 1530 might be too big but the 1330 might be too small with only a 13'' screen.

Even for a Gamer a 2 GHz processor is enough, the bottleneck is going to be the GPU when gaming.

I would recommend the M1330. It's ultra-mobile. You can always have an big external monitor in the dorm if you think its 13" screen is small.

I'm typing on my m1530 right now...it's not big at all and it's really light.

Built really well and an awesome screen (LG WSXGA+). I have a 2.4ghz core2duo geforce 8600m gt and 4gb of ram in it and I haven't experienced any slow down at all.

I'm just a casual gamer and I can run some pretty graphics intensive games (Bioshock, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4) at all highest settings with no slow down. If you don't game, this laptop might be overkill. 2.0ghz core2duo will be fine, though.

Pick one up =D There will be better deals on it though than now...I picked mine up for $940 shipped new from Dell during an awesome deal a while back.

You say it's light so I'm assuming you got the 6-cell battery?
I got the 9 cell and now I'm sort of afraid that it's gonna be really heavy/bulky.

Anyway, how's the battery life on it?

I bought the m1330 because I plan on taking it with me everyday. I'm worried though, because Dell is notorious for HORRIBLE quality control (hint: nonexistent) and it's literally a hit-or-miss. Some people have loved their notebooks from day one but others have found horrible defects on it and had to go through the frustration of returning it, possibly not in time for school. As my friend said, Dell just doesn't know how to build a notebook correctly, though if you get one built right, you'll have a really amazing notebook for its weight.

I'm not trying to scare anybody but this is purely from looking at others' testimonials. I'm in for the risk too, it comes July 2nd for me...=/

I've heard that the horrible build quality applies mainly to Dell's Inspiron line. The XPS laptops are suppose to be much better because it's one of Dell's more high-end lines.
