Ti-83 Plus calculator for college?

I still have my old TI-83 Plus calculator from high school. I plan to major in economics. Will this calculator be good enough or do I need to buy a newer/better calculator?

If so which TI calculator should I get?

I'm pretty sure that will suffice. Most schools recommend a ti-83 or ti-84.

a lot of schools will not allow graphing calculators -- so that will surely suffice, if it is even allowed.

I've been told the TI-89 is preferred by my daughter and her classmates.

Get the TI-89, it's a lot better than the 83/84 series and worth the relatively small increase in price.

It's called self control

Besides, most of the math classes in college don't allow calculators for tests.
