suggestions for a lap top

i am going as a pre-med / bio chem major and i need to buy a lap top

i will be using it for:

-word processing
-watching movies
-music
-power point, publisher, etc.
-adobe photoshop, illustrator etc.
-any math/science programs, applets
-web cam (skype and such)
-note taking


i will be mobile with it...

please suggest brands, models or features!

Get a Lenovo ThinkPad. They're extremely durable (very high build quality), have great battery life, and will last you for all 4 years of undergrad (and most likely beyond that). The R series starts at $650, the T series at $750, and the X series at $1000. I have a T400, and it's the best laptop I've ever used (better than Dells, HPs, Sony's, Macs, etc.).
