Laptop Hard drive failure and battery?

I turned off the switch in my room today forgetting that the computer is connected to the light switch outlet.

So it wasn't charged when I brought it to class yesterday.

I forgot that it wasn't charged and started using the computer. It died on me suddenly after around 10 minutes. It usually gives me a warning or something but no, it just died on me.

I got back home, plugged it in and turned on the computer.

quick blue screen, turns off, restarts over and over again.

I stuck in the windows CD. It claimed HD wasn't connected to the computer and that I should get one.

I take out the battery on the computer (it's not the original battery, I've gotten a replacement one because the old one was pretty much dead) and stuck on the original battery. I did this because I planned on sending it back to HP customer service center and I figured if I replaced the battery or something they might do something about the warranty.

The new battery worked fine for like 2 weeks btw.

Anyways so I place the old battery in and talk on the phone for about 10 minutes.
I then stick the power on again.

Then miraculously the computer works again... after showing a screen about a system error but never the less it works. I restart again. It works.

What the?

Could the battery have anything to do with the HD by any chance? The battery worked fine so far so I don't know what the problem is. I wouldn't have thought this at all except the computer now works and I'm typing on it as I speak. I've restarted the computer and it's fine.

It didn't have any juice and the battery you put in had some. There's nothing wrong with the computer.

No, the old battery doesn't charge. It's old and I can't charge it and that's why I precisely got a new replacement battery.

There's nothing wrong with the computer, it's the battery. Even without power, it should still start when the computer is plugged in, right? I've did it with both of the batteries and the computer was plugged in the entire time.

I've put in the new battery and the computer won't start... I think the battery short circuited itself or something and doesn't have enough power to run the hard drive anymore. I put in the old battery which is just as uncharged (like I said, it can't charge and I left it out for like 3 weeks so if anything, this should be uncharged) and the computer starts fine.

What the?

The old battery is still a battery and itt likely has enough charge to function and can charge somewhat while the new one is no longer working. If the new battery only worked for a few weeks, see about returning it.

Even with the new battery not fully charged, it should've had more power than the old one anyhow. The old battery literally lasts for a minute by itself. It's the new battery's problem so I'll exchange it. But it's really weird. oh well

If you had a bluescreen indicating hard drive problems, theres no question about hard drive failure. It's also possible that your hard drive is damaged, sometimes working and sometimes not.
