Saxophone players: Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon among the old guys. Joshua Redman, Eric Alexander among the new.

Also love Horace Silver, Thelonius Monk, Duke Ellington, and many, many more.

Sadly a lot of them toil in relative obscurity:

Check out Billy Harper, big tenor sound, polyrythms galore.

Buck Hill, a retired DC mailman delivers!

The late Shirley Horn............

I like Najee and George Benson. Also, a lot of the songs by the artist Sade come on the jazz station, and her band is a jazz band. I absolutely LOVE her!

Do i wish i knew more about! I'm a drummer and have been playing for 6 years. I have done little in jazz and want to now. Also, I haven't listened to that much, but I do have a lot of random standards and a few standard albums such as Kind of Blue and Time Out. Anyway, suggestions?
