How can you tell what your hard disk size is, and other hardware characteristics?

Like the processor, RAM, etc. I'm not a computer expert and I have no clue how I'm supposed to check for that. Thanks.

Where is the Hard Disk size? Also, how can you tell what your modem speed is?

For the hard drive, granted it's not partitioned, you simply click my computer, then right click your c drive icon, and click properties.

KissMeKate,

To see how big your hard drive is go to My Computer (should be on your desktop, or you can go to Start and then click on My Computer). Then right click on your "Local Disk," which is usually ( C: ) drive. Then click Properties. It will show you the disk capacity, the space you're currently using, and the space that's left.

To determine what your modem speed you can run a test on a website, but I don't think you'd want to go through that much trouble to find it out (because you need to download certain plugins to do the test). The easiest way is to ask your parents what internet service provider (ISP) you have and then ask them what plan you guys are signed up for. Then you can go to your ISP's website and see what speeds they claim to offer for your specific speed. Generally ISPs are pretty good at giving their customers the speeds they advertise.

Go to "My Computer" and right click on the "Local Disk", then left-click Properties.
The modem speed can be determined by any number of modem test sites. Search on Google for 'speed test' and click whichever one you choose.
