| Depressed
Im depressed because Im having a hard time getting a good gpa in my 1st year of college. I want to transfer to a top 50 next year, but its looking harder than ever. My gpa is going to be anywhere from a 3.4-3.75. It all depends on finals. Im feeling pretty down on myself right now. I just ate a lot of cake im so sad. My question to CCers is...how do you cheer yourself up when stuff like this happens? In a life or death situation like this, what do you do to make yourself happy? Please, people with 3.90s dont respond about being sad bc you didnt make your 4.0 lol. Yeah, but I really am depressed. Quite sad too, since Ive never obsessed over grades like this before....

Shasta's back!
I'm sort of having the same problem... I'm taking college classes this year (dual-credit), and it's really lowering my GPA. I'm worried about admissions, and my parents are ready to kill me. I end up just trying to make myself forget about it, which results in not doing anything, when I should really study for the final.

Listen to some of your favorite songs to get your mind off of it. You can sing along too.

Cheer up lets see...well, you could try the fighting spirit. That always cheered me up. When I got a C or B on something I was angry/sad/depressed but out of those feelings rose a sense of "the fight is not over." If I realized my grades were heading lower, it'd be "I need to take my game to the next level." No matter what I was determined to succeed. A low grade only means merely means you haven't tweaked yourself to be the man you set out to be.
Since we've naturally tied our emotions to our grades, it'd make sense to cheer ourselves up by getting better grades. I cheered myself by facing the challenge headstrong...in long run I felt better cause my grades got better too.

Just stop caring, its quite easy to do. You can easily hit the point where nothing matters, and its nice you don't worry about things as much and what happens happens. Just don't care about the whole thing and don't think about it. The less you care, the more you'll have time to study, you'll be less stressed, and your grades will go up. Works for me at least.

get outside--I don't care what the weather is like---- and go for a run. Seriously, it will reboot your emotions and give you a different view of your situation. You really are in good shape ( good school , solid GPA). AND no one will ever care where you went to school or what your GPA was after that 1st job!
