| Do you believe in Time Travel?
I think its impossible to travel back in and i don't know why people think its possible. Even if you move faster than the speed of light you will virtually be infinitesimally closer to not passing anytime at all but will not dip below zero and go back in time. With reference to space i guess you would be able to chase the light so far that you can "see" things that happened in the past but you won't be able to have any effect on them.
What's the deal with time travel and do you believe its possible?

Sure! I'm traveling through it right now - at the same speed as everyone else...
But time travel the other way -- nope, not logically possible.

The ancient greeks would not have thought that they could harness electricity, quantify it, and build machines such as computers. That doesn't mean it wasn't possible.

Seeing as how all CCers are experts in theoretical astrophysics and quantum mechanics, they are wholly qualified to assess whether time travel is possible or not.

making time faster or slower is possible, but making it go backwards isn't.
at least no for humans.
the proof is that if humans could travel back in time, why don't we see anyone from the future?

| OK but we're talking about logical impossibilities here, not something that is limited by current technology, etc.

| true true. Where is Superman? Also Icarus makes a good point. Those are tangible things. Lets name a TANGIBLE thing that we think we'll never see and then the new humans will prove our a**es wrong. We will never see an "ocean sucker" machine that will suck out all the water. we'll never see a science machine that will attract the sun and make our city hotter or colder according to which we'd like. this all very unlikely to happen and although there might eb a glimmer of a chance to it in the future, the notion underlying it is similar to the Greeks; we could have never thought about such monumental creations. However, going against the laws of nature and logics are INTANGIBLE and that is why going back in time is the same thing as saying make the human body fly. These are logical inconsistencies that are never going to happen because they are circumscribed by the prophecy of human nature rather than human creation. One is based on capability and the other is based on ability.
We have the "capability" to create such technology such as the ocean sucker or weather adjuster. No matter how outlandish they seem they are still potentials. However, we do not have the "ability" to step out of the realm of human capacity and reverse what is ordained.

I agree with baller that time traveling isnt possible because it breaks all laws ...
BUT
as far as humans cant fly ... well thats a capability like u say. Think about stem cell ... anything is possible ... mixing bird dna with human dna .. hmm??

asc3nd, I'm certain that biotech isn't going to allow us to jump in the air and fly because that had to have been ingrained in one's faculties. stem cell exists because we already have a cell to begin with. if you're saying that one day the body will fly, then you're also saying that one day the human could be like Zeus and release thunderbolts from his fingers (hell yeah) and shoot laser from his eyes. We both know that's impossible.

Even if it was remotely feasible, how the hell would you go back in time? Go in space, spend countless hours trying to find a wormhole, pass through it, but where do you end up? And in that remote feasibility I mean the chance to see Jesus or yank off baby Hitler's packer. The law of contradiction is the only thing that I can think of because of going against what's been pre-ordained. Sorry I'm not familiar with astrology so someone edify me on this
