Which one is better in your opinion? I think there needs to be an overhaul on Ab-Only, but I don't think it's entirely bad. That said, how do you guys feel?

who cares?

nobody I know ever cares about anything that is ever said by anyone else besides their own friends. Basically in health class say use condoms and talk to them about stds and that's it..anything else is just a waste of money.

hasn't such a study already been done? It obviously wasn't a prospective because as you said, it's unethical, but I'm pretty sure people with abstinence-only sex ed have a higher pregnancy rate than people with more comprehensive sex ed.

I really doubt the fact that teenage pregnancies occur at such as high rate has much to do with lack of sex ed. I mean: I never even took sex ed and know how you get pregnant and all that stuff.

Rather, I think teenage pregnancies have much to do with the fact that the partakers do not fully understand the consequences/do not worry about the consequences. When you're 16 and have 2 babies but get free education and other services, why worry about the consequences? You can live a life of risks without having to feel the full results of your consequences.

My ghetto public school has abstinence-only. They tell you that STDs are inevitable and condoms are eh. I can estimate that more than 90% of my class doesn't know the basic anatomy of their own bodies. Yeah, they know where to put what where, but that doesn't mean they know everything else. They honestly think using mountain dew and the rhythm technique works.

It's simple ignorance. Nobody tells them so they don't know. You think, Oh, open a book, learn the consequences, it isn't that difficult. Yes, it is. Because they don't know that they can do that. Jesus says don't do it, and that's all they need to know.

Seriously. Seriously. Think about what I just said. If teenagers were given comprehensive sex education along with knowledge of exactly what they are risking, do you think there would be the same rate of teenage pregnancy? Yeah, some don't care, but they do later.

Teenagers are going to do it whether the Man likes it or not. You might as well teach them how to use a condom.

I completely agree with snoopy. I think I can safely say that most teens don't know whats out there in terms of birth control. Or how you can get it without telling your parents.

It's so much better to be able to choose to have safe sex. And when they show you pictures of herpes and genital warts, you won't want to take any risks.

Everybody says that they don't think teens are knowledgeable about birth control and related topics, but do you really believe that? You don't think people have heard of condoms? I think that's pretty arrogant to assume.

It has more to do with lack of foresight and lack of facing consequences (see my example in my previous post).

Yeah, they've heard of condoms, but the majority of people I know have no idea how effective they are. They think they "get in the way". Yes, lack of foresight, but lack of foresight due to ignorance.
