Seriously, I still don't get why guys like the short chicks. I guess opposites attract? I'm 5'8(female) and my ideal height would be anything from 5'8"-6'3". I don't think I'd be attracted to anyone shorter than me.

I have a thing for short girls, I guess. I am 6'2" and I have never dated a girl taller than 5'5", and the last two I dated were 5'2" and 5'3" respectively. You would think it would be weird that I am much taller, but it worked out quite well.

| ummmm same reason you like tall men. short is feminine and tall is masculine.
that said, I'm beginning to like tall chicks. I used to like short, petite chicks. I'm starting to like taller (5'6" to 5'7") chicks with bigger asses/legs. Has to have small waist/arms/shoulders, though.

LOL wow this is still going on, this was supposed to be parody of the "ideal male height" thread but oh well...
anyways, to reiterate, I don't really care about height, but I generally prefer them shorter than myself (which about 80% of the time, they're shorter than 5'11, my height, so it's fine..).

| I think this thread proves men prefer taller women, I mean women who are above average height, as long as the girl is not taller than they are. Even short guys seem to prefer average height women. Occasionally I see a couple where the girl is a bit taller, but not often.
Society expects men to be taller, so that's why women are attracted to taller men. It's seen as more masculine. The ideal woman is also tall, but not taller than the guy because it looks awkward or whatever.
For some reason, in the high fashion modeling industry, the women are expected to be very tall, but the guys can be just average. 5'10 is typical in high fashion for both genders (according to ANTM, I'm not a model lol). guess it's cause the modeling industry sort of has an andogynous look where both sexes look the same? |

actually female models are tall because they look thinner. they market to women. male models are like 6'1" usually.
and this poll doesn't prove anything. It's a poll taken by a group of nerds. The average female height is consistently shown to be around average. I don't know if that's because it looks the best or if it's due to men's own insecurities.
i used to love short chicks when I used to be shy. I used to like "cute" chicks. Now I just don't need a short chick around to feel manly. I go for hot chicks... the one's with a lot of sex appeal. But seriously, height makes almost zero difference. I only answered because the question asked for one; but in real life I don't actually think about it.

I think that while the ideal for men and women is tall, the modeling standard isn't what most people prefer. Models (male and female) are often pretty scrawny, the women are size 0's and the men aren't usually buff, they're scrawny "artsy" looking types. The ideal is more like commercial modeling, like the Victoria's Secret models who are very tall but also curvy with boobs. I think most men would prefer those models to the flatchested high fashion size 0's. The ideal isn't 5'9 and 115 lb, it's more like 5'7 and 135 lb. I don't want to go into a rant about eating disorders or something here, but I can't understand why the fashion industry insists on pushing such a disgusting ideal on us. High fashion models have died from starving themselves.

Probably meant to say 'ideal', which I agree with.
And this thread does not prove anything.

Well, I better chop off my feet then, because at 5'10", I'm way to tall for a guy.
