hahhahahaha is this thread a joke??????
| Oh, you must be a muggle. Yes, yes. This thread is totally a joke. No such thing as magic or Hogwarts University, honestly! The notion of this...
*secretly dispatches a letter to the Ministry of Magic informing them of muggle breach*

Are both of your parents wizards? I heard having legacy there helps as well. If you're a muggle, I with you luck. The muggle acceptance rate is incredibly low.

I heard there's a boggart at the interview. Just fyi.
Oh, and don't freak if Fawkes spontaneously combusts. He does that.

If you're not a legacy, or especially if you're a muggle(which makes it tougher from the get-go) it might be very difficult to get financial aid.
Since a lot of other students matriculate to HU from Ravenclaw, it may also be especially difficult.

Is the acceptance rate low for muggle-born students? First generation students have a lot of obstacles to overcome. No support at home, late introduction to the world of wizardry, etc.

no, its pretty high actually. muggleborns are considered URMs so you'll get a boost in the application review process

A's are nowhere near enough. There are thousands of students out there with E's and O's who are much more likely to be accepted.

Actually, HelloColorClear, since Voldemort's bucket was kicked Hogwarts has been trying to get more muggle-borns in there. But if you're a halfblood you're pretty much screwed. They don't need you for diversity OR for the legacies.

Wow, this is news. When my friends applied a couple years ago, only the legacies got in. These new policies are ridiculous.
In any case, HU is a crapshoot for everyone.

Yeah, I suspect some of the adcoms are total blood purists and others must be trying to, like, initiate a coup of the system of something.

What's the deadline for invitations from HU? My S has been checking the mail every day since July, 2000.
