Does anybody care about WWII vets anymore?

Yesterday I went to hear a local WWII vet and former POW speak at our local courthouse historical society. Besides me and my sister, only 2 other young people showed up. Everybody else there looked like they could have been around during WWII also. He had a lot of interesting stories to tell (they once laced a Nazi guard's hot chocolate with several laxative pills) but hardly anyone bothered to come hear them. Does nobody care? We are the last generation to have this chance! By the time our kids grow up, it will be too late.

Time's passing. You could allude it to our society today. For example, after 9/11, everyone was in such a rush to support their country, etc. Now all that chronic anger has dissipated.
