I am often called crazy and dangerouse by civilians. They clain knives are only weapons. When ever i pull one out to cut somthing, people automaticly take a few steps back, as if I am going to stab them. But I am just going to open a box or container.
Why are Americas so sensitive to Knives as weapons, rather than tools? They really are just a tool are they not? also why are we so sensitive to Guns. In the 50's and 60's it was common to have the average college male to have at least a few knives and a few guns in his college dorm room. Their were no rules, forbidding it. School deans and teachers would reguarly have guys hung up in offices. When my father went to school in an urban enviorment, he had his shotgun in his dorm, not locked up or anything. Just like a baseball bat behind his bed.
America has some of the strictest knife laws around, but if one were to go to any European country,k their would be absolutly no laws regulating the size of the knife somebody can carry. Almost everybody carrys a knife. Even the Business man in London or Rome would have a gentleman'sknife in is jacket/sport coat pocket. It is not uncommon at all, every carries and uses knives as a tool on a daily basis. Imprisond criminals are even allowed their own knife for work throghout europe. They have it in their cells, and I am yet to hear of a incident of a CO(corrections officer) getting stabbed/slashed or killed.
Why are we so dahm sensitive to these things, a Knife is just a cutting tool. Used to make the job of the user easier. I open upwards of 100 boxes and and have to flatten those 100+ boxes everyday at work. The knife is a great tool.
Why is it precieved as such a weapon. Were almost any item could be used the same. Could I not stab you in the neck with a Screwdriver or hit you in the head with a Pipe wrench?
