How do you find enough info to write a good "Why ___" essay?

I can't visit because of time and money, and the brochures I get from college visits are incredibly generic. When I try to go to the school website, I don't know where to look. Can anyone help me where to find good info needed to write about a specific aspect of a school? If I can find it on their website, where on the website should I look at?

This queston is, essentially, "why are you applying?" By now, you should have reasons, beyond its status. You research the college, starting with it own web site. You figure out what it is about that college that makes you feel it is a great fit- programs, opportunities, and more. That simple.
