I want to do an optional essay to increase my chances slightly in getting accepted into a UC.

But I don't know what I want to talk about in my optional essay.
Any tips on writing this optional essay?

I was thinking about writing about my views on rascism since I'm really passionate about it. However, I don't know if it's a good idea.

Optional essays are typically for people who have blemishes in their academic life and etc.

I had a friend who used the optional essay to show what a fun person he actually is by using sarcasm, etc. So just follow you heart! If you think that is really a major part of who you are, then write about it
