Should I add this to my essay?

I'm writing an essay about the man who taught me how to play guitar. I learned from watching videos of his concerts. My essay is just about how he inspired my life and all that.

I actually ended up meeting him last year, and it was a very emotional experience. Should I include that in my essay?

Without knowing much more, I'd say that it would be an excellent addition. However, make sure its still focused on you (what you learned, what you thought about it, how it affected you).
