Essays based on books

Is anyone doing that? If yes, what book and how you relate it to our life?

yes. actually, a poem. I talked about my experience reading it, and then connected writing poetry to computer science... it was a weird essay.

my suggestion: go through the book and pick some favorite lines. write down how you felt while reading the book and just ramble forever. then cut it down and edit 'till your eyes fall out of your head...
and then your done! see, that wasn't so hard... (rofl)

aww, haha thanks!

umm...I think that Harvard lists it as a possible additional essay topic, and I'm pretty sure that the Penn State honors app asks you about books you've read and how they affect you (that may not matter to you, if you aren't from PA). There are definitely more, although I can't remember the specific schools!
