UC Essays

Is it true that UC's tend to prefer essays that are more straightforward, less flowery, that get to the point?

IMO, concise language is needed and preferred at least for the 200 word essays because there's really not enough room to be flowery. But still for the 600 word essay, straightfoward writing is probably best although there is some room for more sophisticated "flower." Just don't overdo it, i suppose

I've noticed that too. It seems like UCs don't look too much for creativity but for an academic answer.
