Essay Type Preferences-

Do schools usually like creative essays that imply your characteristics, or straight forward essays that somewhat list your attributes?
Also, do these preferences differ between UC's and privates?

dont list your attributes unless it specifically says to...if you want to include those, send a resume, colleges will always take them
instead, pick one or two things you want to talk about (being a tutor, soccer team captain, ect) and briefly state/describe the posistion/EC/ect and then talk about how it makes you a better person...
and be creative, let your voice come through, but dont get carried away and write like how you talk to your friends

Both are fine. There's some sort of myth, especially on this baord that you cant do straightforward. You can and at times you SHOULD.
