i did too, but I don't think that the topic is at all cliche...so don't worry about it. Make your approach creative and personal. Maybe talk about an occurence of bicultualism in your life, quote, etc
I wrote something that kind of relates, but I made sure to not make it strictly about biculturalism so it wouldn't sound cliche. Instead, I made my culture the background for an essay that's really about my personality and diversity.
Talk about something distinctive, interesting and unique that has happened due to your cultural backround. Try to avoid the cliche "inner conflict" and maybe approach it with humor. It really depends which cultures you are, some combos are more intriguing than others =P.
